Abstract

Final properties of immiscible polymer blends, such as mechanical or barrier properties, depend strongly on their morphology, which is itself controlled by the flow during melt blending and processing. The difficulty of predicting final morphologies arises in particular from the complexity of temperature and flow fields, the competition between deformation, breakup and coalescence of dipersed domains and the viscoelastic nature of the phases.
