Abstract

Drones what give journalists the opportunity to be one of the “eyes in the sky” offer new possibilities and ways to improve journalistic activities of major media institutions and citizen journalism. However, their high aerial surveillance capacity causes debates about to what extent the limits for drone use in journalism should be driven. National security, public health and security, privacy issues, freedom of press, freedom of expression, freedom of information are among the issues being debated. This study which focuses on the use of drones in journalism, examines the opportunities and challenges in drone journalism by taking into consideration ethical and legal concerns through national and international literature.
