Abstract

AbstractTreatment of 3‐deoxy‐1, 2:5, 6‐di‐O‐isopropylidène‐3C‐méthylene‐α‐D‐ribo‐hexofuranose with aromatic nitrile oxides led to spiro‐Δ2‐isoxazolines, whereas a Δ1‐pyrazoline was obtained by reacting the same C‐methylenic sugar with diazomethane. Properties of these compounds, a new class of carbohydrates, and 5, 6‐di‐O‐acetyl derivatives thereof are described.
