Abstract

Introduction: Pituitary adenomas with suprasellar extension are now routinely treated via an endoscopic endonasal transsphenoidal approach at many institutions. However, extension into the suprasellar compartment may increase the risk of surgery for pituitary macroadenomas and potentially decrease the likelihood for gross total resection. Understanding factors that impact outcomes after transsphenoidal resection of pituitary adenomas is important to tailoring surgical planning and approach. Therefore, we sought to assess factors associated with complications and surgical outcomes in patients undergoing surgical resection of pituitary adenomas with suprasellar extension.
