Abstract

While virtual care has been successful in replacing many aspects of routine diabetes management, access to A1c measurements was limited by the pandemic. Estimated A1cs and time in range from continuous and flash glucose monitors has reduced dependence on laboratory A1cs. A1c is still required for pump funding in Ontario, patients without access to advanced technologies and those who are not monitoring glucose regularly. Capillary sampling is preferred in pediatrics.
