Abstract
Summary Esso Resources Canada Ltd. drilled its second horizontal well at Cold Lake, this time achieving a 1016-m [3,333-ft] horizontal interval. Two key limitations—hole drag and wellbore position accuracy—required special attention. The well design and the methods planned to accommodate these limitations are compared with the actual well data.
