Abstract

Currently, offshore well drilling in the Varadero field is carried out from the coast, as it is economically more efficient than drilling from offshore platforms. In this sense, there is a need to drill wells with large horizontal sections extending several kilometers in length (up to 10 km and more). Initially, a methodology is proposed to calculate the profile a well to drill the production horizon of Manto 2. The horizontal well profile design takes into account that the profile has constant azimuth and consists of five stages: vertical, two stage construction of angle, maintain angle and a horizontal stage. With respect to the mechanical design of the well, 6 sections of casing were used, taking into account the characteristics of the geological formations and the operative window. The minimum number of casing was used according to the Cuban standards and rules. In this regard, we offer the layout of the drill string for the vertical section, designed to create a load on the bit, and the plot of the magnitude of the zenith angle, providing design waste. The remaining sections (stabilization and horizontal) are developed with the help of R.Kh. Sannikov manual. Drilling fluid parameters for each section are proposed. The characteristics of the drilling rig used in this project are given.
