Abstract

Abstract Composite is prepared using vetiveria zizanioides as reinforcement and polyester as the matrix. The developed composite has been subjected to drilling experiments based on central composite design. Spindle speed, feed rate and point angle are taken as the input factors and two outputs namely, thrust and torque are studied. The study includes analysis of relationship between the input and output factors and a mathematical model to predict the output response. The outputs are optimized considering a minimization approach and optimum condition are drawn. Confirmatory trial experiment are made and compared with the optimum condition. The comparison showed a satisfactory result.
