Seltzer Specialist in American fiction, taught at Queens College, CUNY, for three years and at Cleveland State University—where the present article was supported by a Senior Research Grant—for eight years. In spring 1978, Dr. Seltzer resigned his tenureto pursue a second Ph. D., and a new career, in clinical psychology at the University of Cincinnati.
