Abstract

The motherhood is new role in the women‘s life. This role influences new functions related with children rearing. The mothers are not always prepared to accomplish new functions. The short-term social care can be organised to help social risk family (mother and their children)[11]. The social services are provided during the short- time social care. These social services help to mothers develop social skills and strengthen motivation to solve social problems. The support involves also partners from education, occupation, health care, labour market sectors [5]. The drama therapy methods are useful helping mothers develop social skills and strengthen motivation to solve social problems. The drama therapy methods are not explored in Lithuanian social work. The aim of this paper is to reveal using of drama therapy methods in social work with mothers that lives in foster home. The qualitative research was accomplished by implementing the aim. The participatory action research as the type of qualitative research was chosen. This type of qualitative research gave possibility to apply drama therapy methods in practice involving clients (mothers) and providing support for them. This research shows that different drama therapy methods using in social work with mothers that lives in foster care helps to develop empathy, sense of comprehension, communication and discussions between group members and trust to each other.
