Abstract

This paper describes the development of surface water drainage infrastructure to serve Doha, the capital of Qatar, a relatively young and developing city in the Middle East. It discusses the impact of increased urbanisation on flood risk, and the strategies developed and used to provide sustainable drainage systems, and surface and groundwater reuse on a scale not usually seen in a dense urban environment.
