Abstract

On all highway construction projects conveying water originating on and adjacent to the roadway site is an important component of a well designed project. In most cases, inlets and pipes are installed using conventional trenching techniques. This paper discusses the procedure of pipe jacking and boring that is a technique to consider when site constraints will not allow trenching. The process of jacking and boring is discussed in general terms to familiarize the reader with the advantages and disadvantages of this technique.
