Abstract
To enhance the effectiveness of teaching, and the links between teaching and research, the University provides a range of formal and informal professional development opportunities for academic and other staff involved in the delivery of academic courses and programmes. All new teaching staff members are expected to undertake professional development aimed at improving their teaching capability. Experienced staff members are also expected to review their teaching skills, and to participate in formal programmes for teaching development. Informal and formal methods of professional development are encouraged and supported by Academic Heads and Deans.
