Abstract

The stereoscopic 3D industry almost seems to have exploded overnight. We have a growing number of stereoscopic 3D (S-3D) movie theaters, the S-3D gaming industry is taking off thanks to efforts by the S-3D manufacturers (e.g. iZ3D, TDVision Corp, etc.), leading names like James Cameron, Ubisoft, Electronic Arts Korea and additionally by the efforts of the Meant To Be Seen (MTBS) membership. Yet the more things change, the more things stay the same. What does the S-3D industry need to do to make stereoscopic 3D a success for the masses? What lessons can the past teach us to help move us along?
