Abstract

REGINALD PERCU PENROSE, whose premature death occured at assenear Leyden, on April 28, was educated at Altrincham Grammar School, where his distinguisheed scholastic work was crowned, by a Major Open Scholarship to the Queen's College Oxford, He went into residence in 1939, and took the shortened Final Examination in Physics two years later. He then joined the Admiralty research group at the Clarendon Laboratory, Oxford, where he assisted in the design of test equipment for centimetre wave magnetrons.
