Dr. Mukesh Nagpal, 2022 IEEE Fellow: Contributing to Electrical Safety [Electrical Safety

Abstract

Significant contributions to the electrical safety body of knowledge are made by members of many IEEE Societies, and the 2022 IEEE Fellow list includes Dr. Mukesh Nagpal, a member of the IEEE Power & Energy Society (PES). Nagpal is recognized “for contributions to economic and safe integration of distributed renewables in electric utility networks.” As those contributions are applicable to many readers in the IEEE Industry Applications Society, it seemed fitting to learn about Nagpal’s efforts. He has published many technical papers, most in <italic xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery</i> and a few in <italic xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">IEEE Transactions on Industrial Applications</i> and <italic xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">IEEE Transactions on Power Systems</i> . Dr. Nagpal is the recipient of the 2021 IEEE PES Ramakumar Family Renewable Energy Excellence Award—for protection solutions facilitating the grid integration of renewable resources. He was kind enough to respond via email to a few questions about his work.
