Abstract
A personal account of the 50 year-long journey from being a student of electroanalytical chemistry to a teacher of modern chemical sensors is given. Many interesting people encountered on this trip will be recalled. In other words, it will be a reflection on some fifty years of major global political and technological changes and their effect on sensor science.
