Abstract

The design of microfluid Lab-On-a-Chip for blood tests requires the simplicity of chip, the portability of the monitoring system and the easy data analysis procedure. In this work is presented a method to investigate the red blood cells (RBCs) collective behavior in a micro-channel, by using a simplified set-up and implementing an analysis procedure based on digital particle image velocimetry (DPIV). The method adopted and the results obtained represent a proof of concept toward the realization of a general-purpose microfluidic LOC device for in-vitro analysis of RBCs flow.
