Abstract

Summary This paper describes some of the work performed in Phase 1 of a multiphase joint industry program to investigate a down-hole maintenance system for subsea completions that is both reliable and cost-effective. Phase 1 covered concept selection, leaving Phases 2 and 3 to cover critical component design and further development, respectively. The approach taken in Phase 1 to accomplish the program's purpose was to identify and then to study those concepts for transporting maintenance tool strings through the water column and into the subsea tree that eliminated the requirement of a drill vessel for surface support.
