Abstract

To kick off a new cybersecurity unit, high school computer science teacher Patti Doren assigned her students an online puzzle from the Argonne National Laboratory. At home that night, sophomore Jocelyn Murray sat down at her computer, fully planning to walk into class the next day with the puzzle solved. But when she looked at it, she didn't even know where to begin. So much for her dreams of becoming the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency's next white hat hacker, she thought.
