Abstract

The small lateral shifts of a semi-transparent rough object, oriented axially from the doubly-exposed hologram, were determined. The lateral shifts and the axial separations of the object were determined simultaneously from the resultant straight line as well as from circular fringes. The intensity distribution of the speckle pattern for a doubly-exposed hologram was expressed by a new formula on the basis of an array of double-slits. The points of intersection between the linear and circular interference patterns were derived theoretically, and experimentally confirmed.
