Abstract
Bi2O3 electrolytes doubly doped with Dy2O3 and WO3 (DyWSB) were developed to obtain high ionic conductivity. Various compositions having 2:1 mol dopant ratio between Dy and W were tested to obtain a pure single phase, and the trend in conductivity according to total dopant concentration determined. The dopants were selected based on their radii and polarizability. The conductivity of DyWSB electrolytes increases linearly as the total dopant concentration decreases with fixed dopant ratio. The conductivity of 8Dy4WSB is 0.098 S/cm (4 times higher than that of 20ErSB) at 500oC, and the conductivity is 0.569 S/cm at 700oC.
