Abstract

AbstractIn this article, the measurement results for the double‐layered compact coplanar patch antenna with coplanar waveguide feed line at 2.5 GHz has been presented. With this technique, a 3.6% bandwidth (return loss < −10 dB) of center frequency at about 2.5 GHz has successfully been achieved. The copolarization radiation is strongest at θ ≅ 0° and 20° from the broadside in the xz‐ and yz‐planes, respectively. The antenna has a 3 dB beam angle of about 90°. Peak antenna gain is about 4.4 dBi, with gain variations less than 1.0 dBi for frequencies within in the −10‐dB S11 bandwidth. From the measured return loss, it was demonstrated that the bandwidth of coplanar patch antenna printed on CaLa4Ti5O17 high‐permittivity substrate with coplanar waveguide feed line on FR4 substrate can be improved compared with conventional patch antenna. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
