Abstract
This paper presents new coil designs and control methods for octangle wireless charging containers to implement omnidirectional wireless power charging of multiple devices inside the containers. The new coil structure has two layers. The inner layer coils are strategically connected with the outer layer coils by combing the magnetic strength of each single-layer coil. The new control scheme comprises two combined current flow regulation schemes, i.e., scheme D and scheme E. The scheme D is a combination of the scheme A for the inner layer and scheme B for the outer layer, or vice versa. The scheme E is a combination of the scheme A for the inner layer and scheme C for the outer layer, or vice versa. The schemes A, B, and C are the only three possible current flow regulation schemes for single-layer coils. By using the combined current regulation schemes, those weak magnetic field areas of the current regulation schemes for single-layer coils can be compensated by the counterparts. Simulation results based on Ansys’ Maxwell 2021-R1 have validated the effectiveness of the proposed method to achieve even and strong magnetic flux density inside octangle containers.
