Abstract

As highly specialized cells, sperm are well designed to fertilize with oocytes. To achieve its function, round spermatids undergo dramatic changes, spermiogenesis. Along with the elimination of cytoplasm and the shift of histone with protamine, spermatids progressively switch off transcription and translation to inactive all cellular event that are not relevant to fertilization. However, recently, many different research groups have introduced sperm RNA in rat, mouse, bovine, swine, equine, and human sperm.
