Abstract

A study is made of double photoionization of helium at moderate and high incident photon energies. Such regimes may allow information about the nature of the double photoionization process to be elucidated. New theoretical results for single, double and triple differential cross sections are calculated using the time-dependent close-coupling theory and found to be in very good agreement with recent experimental measurements of Knapp et al (2002 Phys. Rev. Lett. 89 033004; 2003 J. Phys. B: At. Mol. Opt. Phys. 35 L521).
