Abstract

The hyperspherical L 2 basis set is used to represent the correlated two-electron continuum states of He. The collision with the fast proton or antiproton is thus rigorously treated by the time-dependent method. Inclusion of s and p states seems to almost fully account for the difference between proton-impact and antiproton-impact double ionization cross-sections. The total ionization cross-sections, on the other hand, are shown to coincide for both projectiles, indicating the complementary nature of the single and double ionization processes.
