Abstract

In this study, the structure of the metamaterial was developed on FR-4 substrate with a double H-shaped complementary split ring resonator (CSRR)-based structure for quad-band applications within the satellite band region. To retrieve the scattering parameters, the high-frequency structural simulator for quad-band application, CST Microwave Studio was utilized. Four resonant frequencies within the operating frequency range from 1 to 18 GHz were generated. The bandwidths of these resonant frequencies were between 2.59 and 3.26, 9.39–10.12, 10.6–12.2 and 12.3–12.8 GHz. Different resonant frequencies within the same operating frequency range could be achieved using the structural optimization mechanism. The electric field, magnetic field, and surface current distribution were observed to affect the exotic electromagnetic properties of the proposed metamaterial structure for satellite band applications.
