Abstract
Abstract Compounds with the general formula M[Nb(OEt)6]2 (M = Mg, Ca, Sr or Ba) have been synthesized by the reactions of alkaline earth metals dissolved in ethyl alcohol in the presence of niobium ethoxide in 1:2 molar ratio. Properties like volatility, solubility in organic solvents and molecular weight have been reported. For elucidation of their structure, their alcoholysis reactions with higher alcohols like normal and tertiary butyl alcohols and n. m. r. spectra have also been studied in some cases.
