Abstract
The double differential cross sections (DDCS) for low energy electron emission can provide stringent tests of the theoretical models for ionization in ion-atom collisions. We have measured the DDCS (d2σ/dΩ dϵ) of soft electron emission in the ionization of H2 bombarded by bare Carbon ions of energy 1.84 and 2.5 MeV/u. The measurements have been carried out for different emission angles (θ) and for electron energies (ϵ) between 0.1 and 300eV. The angular distributions of the DDCS for electrons with fixed energies were found to peak around 70-75°. The data have been compared with CDW-EIS and FBA calculations.
