Abstract
This paper examines the double compression of joint photographic experts group(JPEG) image using discrete cosine transform(DCT) technique with different quality factor(QF) for each step. Study on relatively new approaches has been reviewed for double compression of JPEG when the primary and secondary compressions have same quantization matrixes. The double compression of the JPEG image with different quantization matrixes and obtaining the peak signal to noise ratio (PSNR) in a desirable range has not been presented yet. Therefore, compressing the JPEG images twice with different QF`s to obtained a appropriate PSNR ratio is still in research. This process is carried out for variety of the images and results obtained for compression ratio (CR), mean square error (MSE) and PSNR is quite remarkable. Therefore, for different number of images, results obtained will dynamically decrease the threshold value, which has been justified by the experimental results.
