Abstract

Avionic manufacturers tend to reach more electric aircrafts thanks to the replacement of hydraulic actuators by electric ones. A high level of reliability, redundancy and compactness is required for actuators to be set on the aircraft. The authors present an adapted topology for such actuators based on the use of double channel motors with decoupled winding and limited short-circuit current. The study is focused on the study of a concentrated winding topology of PM motors. On the first part this topology is presented and an expression relating the number of stator teeth and the pole number is achieved. The concept of magnetic decoupling teeth is introduced and its efficiency is highlighted. In the last part of the paper the resulting radial forces acting on the rotor are studied and a structural solution is proposed to eliminate them in all operation conditions. Finally, a study on a prototype of concentrated winding topology motor is investigated.
