Abstract

Double-cavity Raman fibre lasers with two longitudinally concatenated Stokes cavities are shown to permit the suppression of low-frequency relative-intensity-noise (RIN) transfer from the pump laser to the Stokes output. This concept can provide low-noise Raman fibre lasers for use as pump sources in co-pumped Raman amplifiers.
