Abstract

Objectives: A recent review of doses imparted by diagnostic CT procedures suggests that as many as 1.5 – 2.0% of all US cancers may be attributable to x-ray exposure from CT examinations.1 The Kodak 9000 3D (Carestream Health, Subsidiary of Onex Corp, Toronto, Canada) has the potential for reducing patient dose from dento-alveolar CT examinations by utilizing a small field of view (FOV) flat panel detector for cone-beam CT (CBCT) examination while providing hands-off conversion of the unit for conventional dental panoramic scanning.
