Abstract

To analysis domestry of target and important organs in I-125 brachytherapy for lung cancer. In this study, we review 7 patients of tumour size < 5cm non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) with I-125 brachytherapy. Post-operative dosimetry consists of a CT-based planning and dose volume analysis. Tumour volume, doses for tumour, dose distributions, dose volume histograms and mean dose data for lung are analysed in a group of patients. Tumour volums exchange before and after implantations, among which 5 are larger and 2 are smaller. Dosimetric results show high dose in tumour but significant lung sparing with only a small volume of lung irradiated for all patients with mean lung dose values ranging from 5.21Gy to 24.56Gy. I-125 brachytherapy provides a technique to treat a tumour with relatively small margins, rapid dose fall-off leading to improved lung sparing.
