Abstract
The determination of oxidative stress enzymes activities is not easy because the presence of dioxygen in environment and by the production of hydrogen peroxide very unstable. The use of indirect redox systems allows more reliable measures, accurate and right. The interest on these measures remains uncertain because the difficulties related to the interpretation of results. A decrease can reveal a default in antioxidant defenses, or depletion; an increase can signal the response to a stress or to a release by cell lysis. Normal values being in a zone of dubiousness reveal as well incapacity to respond to oxidative stress as the beginning of the response. Thus, a number of observers do not recommend anymore the measure of these enzymes, but only markers of oxidation, vitamins and oligo-elements for antioxidant defense related to dietetic or additional measures.
