Abstract

As an excellent tool, neutron generators have been used widely in prompt gamma-ray neutron activation analysis (PGNAA) technology. In this work, a new PGNAA laboratory was proposed to equip a D–T neutron generator. For safety reasons, radiation shielding of the laboratory was designed, and its protection efficiency was validated by using MCNP simulations and experiments. The results show that the proposed shielding can meet the radiation protection set by the International Commission on Radiological Protection and the Chinese government.
