Dose Prescription to 40% to 90% Isodose Lines for the Target in Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy for Lung Tumors: Which Prescription Line Is Optimal?

Abstract

In stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) for lung tumors, appropriate dose prescription is crucial to improve local control and reduce adverse events. Recent advance in dose calculation algorithm is expected to lead to accurate evaluation of the dose prescription method. Previously, the SBRT dose was most commonly prescribed to the isocenter, but prescription to the 95% PTV border is becoming popular. More recently, some groups prescribed the dose to the 95% or 99% PTV border covered by a 67-80% isodose line.
