Abstract

Dosage-mortality lines were established for methyl parathion and synthetic pyrethroids against larvae of Heliothis virescens (F.). Levels of tolerance to methyl parathion have increased since 1972. Pydrin® (benzeneacetic acid, 4-chloro-alpha-(l-methylethyl)-, cyano (3-phenoxyphenyl) methyl ester) and permethrin were more effective than methyl parathion, but decreased susceptibility to these pyrethroids was indicated where insects already possessed high levels of tolerance to methyl parathion.
