Abstract

In this paper is studied and transcribed the text of the Vita uel passi s. Desiderii of Visigothic king Sisebutus (612-621) preserved by fragment XXIV/3 of the Episcopal Library of Vic (Barcelona), a bifolium coming from a Passionary copied in the cathedral of Vic around 1000, and fragment L.14806 of the Archivo Histórico Nacional of Madrid, a folio from a Passionary-Martyrology copied in Catalonia in the middle of XIth century. These fragments transmit the beginning of the work of Sisebutus (chapters 1-6 and the first words of chapter 7) and are, consequently, the oldest known manuscripts of this composition. The analysis of their variants allows to establish, in addition, a new stemma codicum.
