Abstract
The purpose of this paper was to present part of the construction of the Information Science field, through a historiographic study, resident in the biography of the authors Adkinson, Borko, Buckland, Rayward and Saracevic. To construct this narrative, literary works, resumes, interviews, videos, obituaries and websites of the institutions to which they were or are professionally affiliated, were consulted. To compose the study, a search was made for the authors' names and their variations in databases, selected using as criteria the collection of publications in the area of Information Science, multidisciplinary and technology. To complement the data, a survey was conducted on the publications of the most cited authors in the Web of Science database for the area of Library Science and Information Science. Throughout the authors' history, a range of honors and awards were identified such as decorations as a professor emeritus, among others. The participation of the authors in several entities of class representation was verified. In addition, the authors’ international recognition was verified due to their contributions to Information Science field and for their seminal publications
