Abstract

The anterior cingulate cortex has been ascribed putative roles in varied emotional and cognitive functions. To evaluate the cingulum bundle as a therapeutic target for anxiety and mood disorders, we investigated responses evoked by the application of direct electrical stimulation to the anterior cingulum bundle in 17 patients undergoing intracranial electrophysiological monitoring.
