Abstract

Future satellite communications systems are going to use orbiting satellites. Compared with the geostationary orbit such systems have some advantages like the smaller attenuation of free space or the shorter link delay. On the other hand the relative motion of the satellite and the ground station lead to Dopplers of the radio signals. This paper describes a program which is used to compute the instantaneous Doppler for any orbit and for any position of the ground station. The results of the program are summarized over the visibility region to Doppler profiles.
