Abstract
I read with interest the article “A white light speed trap” by Lars Lading (January ppl9–20) about the use of an inexpensive broadband incoherent light source for the measurement of velocity based on the Doppler effect. The article was based on work at the Lawrence livermore National Laboratory in the US (D Erskine and N Holmes 1995 Nature 377 317).
