Abstract

The effects of Nb2O5 and Fe2O3 additives on microstructure and dielectric properties of BaTiO3 materials were investigated using an X-ray diffractometer, a scanning electron microscope, a capacitor tester and a hysteresis loop test. Experiments reveal that incorporation of a proper content of Fe2O3 in Nb2O5 doped BaTiO3 can accelerate the pore elimination, and significantly improve temperature characteristics of the BaTiO3 ceramics. The development of microstructure promoted by the additives can result in an improvement in the dielectric constant. When the the doping concentration of Fe2O3 was 1·50 mol.-% and the concentration of Nb2O5 was 1·00 mol.-%, the relative dielectric constant of ceramic can reach 3879.
