Abstract

Four kinds of (Sm1−xYbx)2(Zr0.7Ce0.3)2O7 (x = 0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3) ceramics with different contents of Yb were prepared by the solid-phase reaction. Their thermochemical reaction behaviors with calcium-magnesium-alumina-silicate (CMAS) at 1300 °C were investigated. Among them, (Sm0.7Yb0.3)2(Zr0.7Ce0.3)2O7 has the best corrosion resistance to CMAS. The increase of Yb content can accelerate the formation rate of apatite, preventing the ceramic layer from erosion of CMAS and improving the strain tolerance of the ceramic. In addition, the CMAS wetting, corrosion process and failure mechanisms were discussed by high-temperature field wetting and transmission electron microscopy.
