Abstract
The 2020 International Society for Peritoneal Dialysis guideline defines incremental peritoneal dialysis (PD) as “a strategy by which less than standard ‘full-dose’ PD is prescribed in people initiating PD, with the intention of increasing the peritoneal prescription if and when residual kidney clearance declines.” The guidance states that “this may allow patients more time for life participation, less treatment burden and better quality of life.”1 The accompanying paper concludes that “given that incremental PD costs less and is inherently less onerous, it is reasonable, pending larger randomized trials, to adopt this strategy.”2
