Abstract
In Taiwan, the first domino liver transplantation (DLTx) was successfully performed on December 22, 2007 in Taipei Veterans General Hospital. DLTx is also called sequential liver transplantation (SLTx). The meaning of DLTx is to implant the liver of the first liver transplant recipient (domino donor graft) to the second liver transplant recipient (domino recipient). This unusual type of liver transplantation is mainly for expanding organ availability. In this mini-review, the history, logical basis for the use of domino grafts and the surgical techniques will be described.
