Abstract
The article presents an analytical review of the changes taking place in higher pedagogical education from the moment of its emergence in the XIX century to the present time in the aspect of the relationship between domestic traditions and innovations of teacher training in universities of various profiles. The emphasis is placed on the need to research and search for scientifically based ways to fundamentalize the content of pedagogical education, to implement the continuity of theoretical and practical training of future teachers.
