Abstract

A study of ferroelectric domain configurations in modified lead titanate ceramics by transmission electron microscopy has been carried out to characterize the nature of ferroelectric domains. The influences of annealing, poling field and grain size on domain configurations are also discussed. X-ray diffraction was used to obtain information about the 90° domain reorientation under different poling conditions, and the results correlate with the observed high anisotropy in the electromechanical properties.
